MOORPARK : Video to Highlight War Veterans’ Efforts

Share

What did you do during the war?

That will be the question asked of Moorpark veterans for a video celebrating the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The video, being put together by the Moorpark Community Services Department, will air in July on Channel 10, the city’s public-access cable station, said Shelly Shellabarger, a recreation supervisor for the department.

Shellabarger has already contacted local veterans groups, the city’s seniors center and the Moorpark Historical Society, looking for participants.

“We want to learn about how Moorpark residents--past and present--contributed to the struggle,” Shellabarger said.

Interviews with veterans and others who helped in the war effort will be taped by city personnel, she said. The video will be edited in-house, which will keep expenses at a minimum, she added.

“We did something similar during our 10th anniversary, asking residents about the last 100 years in Moorpark, and it proved to be an extremely interesting video,” Shellabarger said.

Moorpark veterans and others who worked in the war effort are asked to contact Shellabarger and schedule an appointment for interviews. For more information, call 529-6864, Ext. 231.
