PALMDALE — A 10-year-old Palmdale boy was killed and two other children were seriously injured Sunday when they were struck by the car of a suspected drunk driver, who tried to flee but was chased down by witnesses, authorities said.
Richard Boydston died after being hit about 4:35 p.m. as he walked along the west curb of 3rd Street East, just south of the intersection with Avenue P-12, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Olson said.
Richard’s two companions--Steven Boydston, 6, and Darcie Moore, 10, both of Palmdale--were in critical condition Sunday night at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center, Olson said.
The driver of the car--identified as 34-year-old Miguel Campos--tried to flee from the scene of the accident, Olson said. Witnesses chased him, however, and held him a few blocks away until authorities arrived.
Campos was booked on suspicion of manslaughter, hit and run, and drunk driving, Olson said.
