Schwartz Wins Speedway Scratch Main
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the four-lap scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program in front of 4,403 Friday night at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Gary Hicks of Riverside finished second. Charlie Venegas of San Bernardino was third, Shawn McConnell of Brea fourth and Jerry Black of San Bernardino was fifth.
Mark Hannan of Newport Beach won the eight-lap handicap main event. He held off Robert Pfetzing of Tustin, who was second.
Hicks was third, Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano fourth, Jim Estes of Topanga fifth and Venegas sixth.
David Taylor of Tustin won the five-lap support class main event and Peter Lewis of Ontario and Jamie Macy of La Verne combined to take first in the four-lap sidecar main event.
