San Diego Concerts Revived

Two days after canceling its June 26-27 Del Mar Fair concerts, Pearl Jam announced late Wednesday that it will now play the San Diego Sports Arena on those days.

Tickets for the canceled shows will be honored at the Sports Arena on the respective days. Seating will be non-reserved, although some tickets will allow floor access. No additional tickets will be sold.

ETM Entertainment Network, which is handling tickets for the shows by the Seattle rock group, was scheduled this week to mail the tickets to 13,000 fans per show who bought them via telephone in May. More information is available by phoning (800) 946-4090.

Pearl Jam canceled its Del Mar shows after the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department raised concerns last week about concert safety, including fears that thousands of fans without tickets might try to crash the fairground gates. The Sports Arena dates--part of an 11-city tour that begins Friday in Casper, Wyo.--will be the band’s first Southern California appearances in nearly two years.
