Ventura County will distribute an additional $1.5 million in federal grants to help rebuild the earthquake-ravaged communities of Fillmore and Piru.

The county was awarded the block grant money from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in April. The county had previously received a $2.8-million federal block grant for earthquake recovery, administrative analyst Susan Van Abel said.

County supervisors agreed to use the new money to fund a number of projects in and around both communities, ranging from $275,000 for the restoration of historic Rancho Camulos near Piru to $504,000 to repair the Fillmore Towne Theatre.
