Forte in San Diego Hospital After Triple Bypass Surgery
XTRA sports talk-show host Chet Forte, a former Emmy Award-winning director for ABC Sports, is in intensive care at a San Diego hospital recovering from triple bypass surgery, his broadcast partner, Steve Hartman, said Sunday.
Hartman said Forte, who has a history of heart trouble, had not been feeling well the past few weeks and went to a hospital for tests on Friday. He had the surgery Saturday.
“I talked to Chet Friday night and he sort of casually said he was going to have open-heart surgery the next night,” Hartman said. “I haven’t been able to talk to him since then because he’s been in intensive care.”
Hartman said John Kentera probably will fill in for Forte this week, and then Hartman and Forte will take a previously scheduled vacation June 26-July 4.
