OXNARD : Gunman Sought in Cabdriver Robbery
Police are still searching for a man who robbed and fired three shots at an Oxnard cabdriver, authorities said Thursday.
The cabdriver was not harmed in the incident, which occurred about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Oxnard police Sgt. Jana Young said Michael Stevens picked up a man at the corner of Channel Islands Boulevard and Ventura Road and Stevens was directed to Redwood Street, less than a quarter-mile south on Ventura Road. The man then brandished a small-caliber handgun and demanded all of Stevens’ money, Young said.
Stevens complied but began struggling with the robber, Young said. The robber fired a shot inside the cab. Stevens ran, and the robber fired twice more, Young said.
The robber fled, and Stevens returned to the cab and called his dispatcher.
