They did mean it, after all.
After a long wrangle with Metrolink over the meaning of a few words, a few persistent Covina homeowners will soon have walls separating their back yards from the neighboring commuter tracks.
Metrolink officials have confirmed that the agency will build the walls along three properties that border the bustling tracks along Edna Place. The walls will cost an estimated $2,500.
Residents had letters from Metrolink dating back before the quiet, old Southern Pacific rail corridor was turned into a valley commuter expressway, showing that the transportation agency was planning to build the walls. Metrolink officials countered that the letters only said they “would like to” build residents a wall, and that what Metrolink would like to do wasn’t necessarily the same as what it was going to do.
Last week, Metrolink said the residents had been left off wall-building plans through a blunder.
