Beaten Body Found in Street

VAN NUYS — A 31-year-old man was beaten to death and his body left on the street early Thursday, police said.

The body of Eric Edward Vaas, 31, with massive head injuries, was found at 3 a.m. outside his car in the 14100 block of Calvert Street, said Officer Helen Lloyd of the Los Angeles Police Department. Vaas was declared dead at the scene, she said.

Investigators said that it is unknown what type of weapon was used to kill Vaas. No suspects are in custody, Lloyd said.
