BASEBALL / DAILY REPORT : ANGELS : Allanson Ready to Come Back

Catcher Andy Allanson will probably be activated from the disabled list today, Manager Marcel Lachemann said, and the question now is, who gets sent to triple-A Vancouver?

The most likely candidates for demotion are Mark Dalesandro and Chris Turner. But each can play the infield as well as catch.

Jorge Fabregas apparently has earned his keep by hitting in 15 of 19 games, and Greg Myers has been filling in at designated hitter while Chili Davis is on the disabled list.

Davis has enjoyed use of the swimming pool at the Ballpark at Arlington while rehabilitating his injured hamstring. He ran laps in the five-foot deep pool.

Spike Owen started in place of Damion Easley at second base because Lachemann wanted a more veteran team on the field.

“Veterans get you through the tough times smoother than the kids sometimes,” Lachemann said.

Easley’s eighth-inning error led to two runs in Texas’ 9-8 comeback victory Wednesday.

First baseman J.T. Snow returned to the lineup after missing Wednesday’s game because of flu.
