Man Dies in Custody at LAPD Station
A man who had been arrested on suspicion of assault died of an apparent seizure Tuesday while in custody at the Hollywood Division station, Los Angeles police said.
Floyd Clary, 35, had been arrested about 1:30 p.m. on north Western Avenue after a woman flagged down a patrol car and told officers she had been attacked and struck with a cane by Clary, Detective Kimberly Dammeier said.
Clary did not resist arrest and had been placed, without handcuffs, in a detention cell at the station when he suffered what appeared to be a seizure. Paramedics were summoned and Clary was taken to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, police said. He did not respond to treatment and was pronounced dead.
An investigation is pending, police said.
