In a move the troubled company says will save more than $1 million, Iwerks Entertainment Inc. announced plans to integrate its touring technologies division into its Burbank headquarters.
In addition, President and Chief Executive Officer Roy A. Wright announced that Thomas Gimple, president of the touring technologies division, will become executive vice president of operations, responsible for company manufacturing and operations.
As president of the Newport Beach-based touring technologies division, Gimple helped develop the concept of combining the visual and audio impact of Iwerks products in high-tech, mobile theaters known as touring vehicles with promotional campaigns for companies including PepsiCo and AT & T.
Iwerks Entertainment creates movie-based specialty theaters, simulation rides, virtual reality technologies and software. The company designs and installs special venue theaters around the world in theme parks, fairs, museums and visitor centers.
