The brother of Pasadena City Councilwoman Ann-Marie Villicana is the newest member of the city’s Community Development Committee.
Villicana said she proposed Alex Villicana’s appointment after getting the city attorney’s OK that there were no ethics violations.
The appointment follows Villicana’s decision to oust Penny York from the Rose Bowl Operating Co. board’s District 6 seat, saying she was looking for someone with more business experience. York is married to William York--the man Villicana beat in May to win her council seat.
Villicana appointed John Flowers, who worked on her campaign, as York’s replacement. Her brother had also worked on her campaign as treasurer.
