VENTURA : Motorcyclist Evades Police During Chase
An elusive motorcyclist led Ventura police on a high-speed chase that ended early Sunday after a pursuing officer crashed her patrol car near La Conchita and two other cruisers lost sight of the cyclist, police said.
Officer Marina Duffner was treated for minor injuries at Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura and released.
The chase began when police attempted to stop the motorcyclist for a traffic violation near Ventura Avenue. The motorcyclist failed to pull over and led police on a chase through the area and onto the northbound Ventura Freeway at speeds exceeding 100 m.p.h., police said. During the chase, Duffner spun out and hit a guardrail before coming to a stop.
The motorcyclist then turned around and headed south on the freeway to California 33, where police lost track of him in Oak View.
Ventura police and the California Highway Patrol are continuing the investigation.
