ORANGE COUNTY ALMANAC : Water Everywhere, Nowhere

Heavy rains hit Orange County in 1861 and lasted four months. The Santa Ana River overflowed, flooding much of the county, and in Anaheim many buildings, including a new school, were destroyed.

A drought followed in 1862 and 1863, and once again Anaheim was threatened, this time by cattle stampeding to reach what little water was left.
