VENTURA : Youth Services Plan OKd Without Funds
- Share via
Seeking more recreational activities for Ventura’s young people, the City Council has approved a youth services plan that calls for a teen center, jobs and career-development programs and more weekend night activities.
But the approval stopped short of providing any funds.
The council approved the plan late Monday after a task force commissioned 18 months ago by Mayor Tom Buford developed a series of recommendations.
The council put off spending $197,000 this year and $600,000 in coming years, as the plan recommended, with council members inviting task force members to apply for the funds during next summer’s budget process.
“It’s a matter of finding dollars to go places with the plan,” Councilwoman Rosa Lee Measures said.
