BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Dykstra Out for Season After Surgery
Philadelphia Phillie outfielder Lenny Dykstra will sit out the rest of the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Wednesday to relieve arthritis under his kneecap.
Dykstra, 32, played only 62 games this season because of various injuries, including back problems. He was batting .264 with two home runs and 18 RBIs.

Montreal Expo backup catcher Tim Spehr has a testicular tumor and was put on the emergency 60-day disabled list. Spehr, 29, will undergo surgery today at a Montreal hospital and is expected to sit out the rest of the season. The St. Louis Cardinals put pitcher Rene Arocha on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 31, because of a strained right elbow. . . . The Texas Rangers said right-hander Danny Darwin will be signed to a major league contract and start Saturday against the Angels.
