PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : AFC : Loss of Roberts Latest Seahawk Woe

The Seattle Seahawks, already beset by injuries and personal problems, got more bad news when left tackle Ray Roberts underwent surgery for a bone cyst in his ankle that will sideline him six to eight weeks.

Roberts has had surgery three times since breaking a bone and damaging a ligament in his left ankle last December.

Linebacker Bob Spitulski will be sidelined at least 10 weeks after surgery on his right knee and cornerback Nate Odomes is sidelined for the season because of a knee injury.

Fifth-round draft choice Mike Miller, who walked out of camp July 31, will not play for the Cleveland Browns this season, Coach Bill Belichick said. . . . Quarterback Bucky Richardson confirmed that he had been picked up by the New England Patriots, one day after being waived by the Houston Oilers. . . . Oakland Raider offensive tackle Gerald Perry (strained back) and tight end Kerry Cash (sprained knee) will not play in Saturday night’s exhibition game against the Cowboys at Texas Stadium. Meanwhile, a group opposed to the deal that brings the Raiders back to Oakland filed papers seeking a vote to force the team to post collateral for $41.9 million in loans promised by the city.
