Two Huntington Beach men were treated for minor injuries Sunday after an early-morning shooting incident, police said.

The men heard noise about 1:30 a.m. in an alley outside their residence in the Oak View area of the city near Barton Drive and Koledo Lane and confronted four young men with shaved heads vandalizing an automobile that belonged to one of the men, said police Lt. Luis Ochoa.

“The group of suspects, four young Latino males, was vandalizing one of their vehicles, smashing windows and so forth,” Ochoa said. “When they went outside, the suspects fled. As they were fleeing, they fired at the victims.”

Ochoa identified the victims as Enrique Gomez, 18, who was shot in the head. He was treated for a minor head injury at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach.

The second victim was identified as Aurelio Rincon, 33, who was hit in the foot. He was treated at Pacifica Hospital in Huntington Beach.

Ochoa said that two men not responsible for the shooting and apparently unrelated to the suspects were arrested at the scene for carrying concealed weapons.

The incident is under investigation.
