SIMI VALLEY : Bottle Rocket Ignites Fire on 2-Story House
A fire engulfed a two-story house in Simi Valley on Friday, causing $30,000 in damage, authorities said.
The fire began at 1:20 p.m. on the wooden roof of the house in the 6000 block of Menlo Street, officials said. There was no one at the house when the fire began.
It took six engines, one truck and about 38 firefighters about 25 minutes to contain the blaze, authorities said.
The fire was ignited by a bottle rocket that landed on the house’s shake roof, authorities said. An investigation is continuing.
