Trainers Jones, Cerin Face CHRB Drug Probe

Share

Trainers Gary Jones and Vladimir Cerin had complaints filed against them by the California Horse Racing Board Sunday after laboratory tests showed that their horses ran with prohibited medications in races at Hollywood Park.

Jones’ positive was for Made of Jade, who won a race on June 7. The drug was identified as phenylpropanolamine, which was described in the complaint as a decongestant.

Cerin saddled horses in six races that tested positive for the stimulant caffeine. Two of them--Palmdale on June 21 and Gallant Solider on June 30--won their races. Palmdale also tested positive after running third on July 9. The other horses were Hillwalker, who was second on July 3; Predicted Glory, second on July 9; and Namiquipa, fourth on July 13.
