ANAHEIM : Woman, 77, Is Killed on Freeway
A 77-year-old Fullerton woman was struck and killed Monday morning by a truck as she tried to cross the northbound Santa Ana Freeway near Euclid Avenue, police said.
The woman, whose name has not been released pending notification of her family, ran into the truck’s path and was hit as the driver swerved to avoid her, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Officer Jeff Keul said the driver moved into the slow lane of the three northbound lanes of traffic to avoid hitting cars that had slowed for the woman. The truck struck her, he said, when she reversed her course.
Keul said an investigation is underway. He could not say if the driver had been cited.
