ANAHEIM — A man was thrown from his pickup truck and killed Saturday in a four-vehicle collision on the northbound Santa Ana Freeway near Ball Road, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The man died at the scene shortly after the 3:15 p.m. accident, in which his truck rolled into another traffic lane, said Tom O’Donnell, a CHP spokesman. A female passenger sustained moderate injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center, he said.
“It’s believed he wasn’t wearing his seat belt and he was thrown from his vehicle while the vehicle rolled into a traffic lane,” O’Donnell said.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known, and O’Donnell said he did not know if anyone in the three cars was injured.
