Tyson-Foreman Unites Rivals
Promoters Don King and Bob Arum, often bitter enemies, met on live television Saturday and agreed happily to try to make a fight between former heavyweight champions Mike Tyson and George Foreman for next March.
“George just wants to fight one more time,” Arum said on “The CBS Sports Show.” “We’d love it to be Mike Tyson.”
King promotes Tyson, and Arum has been Foreman’s promoter.
“We’re going to see if we can make a big finale for George,” King said, hinting at the numerous obstacles.
Foreman has said he would like to fight Tyson, but not if King is involved in the promotion. King said he was confident that could be worked out. There are more difficult problems, however, such as competing pay-per-view companies and Foreman’s tentative contractual obligation to fight Michael Moorer in March.
