Man on Bus Bench Engages in Gun Battle, Is Shot to Death
A shootout Monday between two men on a Long Beach street left one of them dead, a Police Department spokeswoman said.
The shooting victim, a 23-year-old Fullerton man, was sitting on a bus bench on Anaheim Street just west of Junipero Avenue about 3 p.m., said spokeswoman Karen Kerr. The victim’s name was not immediately available.
“The suspect approached the victim on foot and shots were exchanged between the two men,” she said. “The victim fell to the ground and the suspect fled to the alley behind the location of the shooting.”
Kerr said the suspect got into a white compact car driven by another man and fled eastbound through the alley and then northbound on Junipero Avenue.
