There’s “The Show.” And then there’s the show of force.

After a shooting last week, Torrance police are putting a heavy police presence near the cinema screening “The Show,” a documentary chronicling the life of gangsta rap stars.

Extra squad cars patrol the parking lot outside United Artists theaters at Del Amo mall when the movie lets out, especially at night, Sgt. Gil Kronke said. The beefed-up patrols, coupled with increased mall security, are in response to a shooting that occurred after one of the film’s opening-day showings Friday.

An 18-year-old man was wounded in the neck and shoulder and his 19-year-old friend was shot in the right arm as they drove from the theater about 11:50 p.m. The assailants, whom the victims had spotted at the show, had tailed the teen-agers from the theater. The teen-agers were reported in stable condition Tuesday.
