OUTLOOK

La Habra struggled through a brutal 1994 season in which it was everybody’s punching bag. In eight of the Highlanders’ 10 games, the opposition scored 21 or more points. “Last year was disappointing and we have to improve the defense,” Milhizer said. The resurrection starts with the three returning linebackers: Falcioni, White and Lowe, who must lead a young front four. Gonzalez leads the secondary. Milhizer is determined to get La Habra’s running game up to speed to better balance the passing attack. Lerma gets first crack at being the featured back Johnny Yoo (532 yards) was. At quarterback, Marshall will step in for the departed Sonje Berg (1,130 yards, 12 touchdowns). Meanwhile, Milhizer hopes to buy enough time in the season to make a late run at the league title. “We have to show we can stop people,” he said. “Any champion team has got to stop people consistently.”
