ORANGE COUNTY ALMANAC : Drive-In Service
In 1955, the Rev. Robert Schuller came to Orange County from Chicago to found what would become the Crystal Cathedral. His first service, at the Orange Drive-In Theatre, drew about 50 cars. The sermon was delivered from the roof of the snack bar.
In 1961, Schuller moved to an indoor church in Garden Grove.
