Treat All Creatures With Compassion

* In the article Aug. 26, “Canine-like Steer Wins Top Honors at Fair”, you cavalierly write that it is time for the “bovine to wake up and smell the steak sauce.” How clever! Actually, it’s time for mankind to wake up to the realization that all creatures are NOT on earth for the pleasure, use, abuse or amusement of humans. They are not inanimate objects devoid of feelings, etc.

To stymie the natural love and compassion that children feel for animals and instill in its place callousness in inexcusable. How can this be justified?
