A Los Angeles teen-ager surrendered to police Tuesday in connection with a Pomona bank robbery that ended with a teller being shot to death, Police Lt. Ronald Frazier said.
The boy is the third suspect taken into custody since the fatal holdup Aug. 22 at Chino Valley Bank.
Teresa Hernandez, a 35-year-old single mother from Riverside, was killed by one of three masked gunmen who burst into the bank and shot her.
On Saturday, as a result of leads and phone tips, Pomona police arrested Kareem Jamal Brown, 22, and Thea Rene Brown, 23, both of Fontana, for investigation of murder and bank robbery, Frazier said. Both are being held without bail.
Pomona detectives say a total of six people were involved in the holdup and the three who are still at large include the shooter.
The latest suspect’s surrender was coordinated by KTLA-TV reporter Warren Wilson, who has orchestrated numerous surrenders by suspects to authorities in recent years. During the on-air surrender, Wilson identified the juvenile suspect as Derek Wilson, who is no relation to Warren Wilson.
