North Hollywood : Panel Denies Link With Anti-NoHo Flyer

The citizens advisory committee of the North Hollywood redevelopment project said this week that it had nothing to do with a flyer distributed in the community’s arts district that apparently was intended to discourage people from patronizing the area.

“The arts subcommittee did not discuss, authorize, recommend nor have any prior knowledge of the flyer or information included in the flyer which is reported to have been placed on vehicles in the project area during the Labor Day weekend,” Glenn Hoiby, the chairman of the Project Area Committee of the North Hollywood redevelopment project, said in a statement issued Tuesday.

Hoiby was responding to the flyer, which read:

“Caution! Your vehicle is parked in the NoHo arts district. There is an ongoing conflict between businesses who support NoHo and residents who oppose it. Your vehicle may be in jeopardy at this location. Caution is recommended by the Community Redevelopment Arts Committee[sic].”

Walter Beaumont, community affairs officer for the redevelopment project, said the flyer is just one incident in a series of harassing actions taken by a person or people who are opposed to the redevelopment project. He said the project has widespread business and homeowner support and there is no conflict.
