CYPRESS : City OKs Oversized Sign at Racetrack
Los Alamitos Race Course was an across-the-board winner in its quest for permission to put a large sign at an entrance to the track. The City Council unanimously approved the request.
Racetrack officials sought permission for a 281-square-foot wall sign to be placed at the main grandstand entrance on Katella Avenue. City approval was necessary because the sign exceeds size limitations for zoning at the track.
In a memo to the council, community development director Chris Kelly recommended approval of the request. He said a city staff analysis of the sign found that it would “not detract from the attractiveness or orderliness of the city’s appearance or the surrounding neighborhood.”
Although the track takes its name from neighboring Los Alamitos, it is in Cypress.
