Empiria Rendon; Retired Vocational Nurse

Empiria (Empy) Rendon, a longtime Oak View resident, has died after a brief illness. She was 65.

Rendon was born Dec. 23, 1929, in Clarksdale, Ariz. She came to Ventura County from Santa Barbara 20 years ago. Rendon was a licensed vocational nurse before she retired in 1989.

She was active in the community as a member of the advisory committee of the Serra Retreat in Malibu, the St. Thomas Aquinas Church Ladies Altar Society in Ojai, the Right to Life League and the Detention Ministry.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Rendon of Oak View; her brothers Henry Cardiel of San Diego, Max Rojas of Goleta and Frank Rojas of Salt Lake City; sisters Angie Zunga of Santa Maria, Alice Villa of Fresno and Connie Nelson of Goleta; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are under the direction of Clausen Funeral Home in Ojai. A visitation will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a rosary. Mass will be held at the church at 10 a.m. Monday, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara.
