Sheriff’s homicide detectives arrested the father of a 3-month-old Palmdale baby who died Friday after her parents called 911 to report that the infant was having breathing problems.
Thomas Lalonde, 28, was arrested for child endangerment just hours after his infant daughter died at an area hospital. Lalonde and his wife called 911 at about 11 a.m. Friday saying Renee Lalonde was having trouble breathing. The child was rushed to Desert Palms Community Hospital, where she later died.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Richard Dinsmoor] said detectives were awaiting a report from the Los Angeles County coroner on the cause of the baby’s death. He said authorities were still investigating the case and did not want to say why they had arrested Lalonde in association with his own infant’s death.
