Golden West 21, San Diego Mesa 14--Eriq Withers scored two touchdowns as the Rustlers won their second consecutive game.

Golden West took a 7-0 lead after quarterback Brain Schneider scrambled 48 yards to the one and Withers took it in from there.

After San Diego Mesa tied the score on a three-play drive, Schneider connected with Wesley Morris for 42 yards. Charles Chatman, who rushed for 79 yards in 17 carries, ran it in from the two to give Golden West the lead for good.

Saddleback 12, Cerritos 6--A 49-yard touchdown scramble by quarterback Justin Vedder in the fourth quarter helped clinch Bill Cunerty’s first victory as coach of the Gauchos.

Vedder, who completed 17 of 30 passes for 215 yards, dropped back to pass and then ran through the middle to give Saddleback a 12-0 lead. Matt Davenport had given the Gauchos (1-1) a six-point lead with first-half field goals of 42 and 27 yards.
