Winnetka : Road Work Expected to Delay Motorists

Share

Major road work is under way on sections of Winnetka Avenue, roughly between Roscoe Boulevard and the Ventura Freeway, in a project that is likely to inconvenience motorists.

Last week, the city Bureau of Street Maintenance began removing old pavement along Winnetka from Roscoe to Sherman Way, in a process that should end Wednesday, according to Gregory L. Scott, an assistant director of street maintenance.

After a monthlong respite, laying of new asphalt on that section will begin Nov. 6.

Road construction to replace worn, cracked pavement on Winnetka from Victory Boulevard roughly to the Ventura Freeway will begin Friday and end Nov. 17, bureau officials said.

Traffic will be restricted, at worst, to one lane in each direction during the scheduled work hours of 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Scott said the bureau will attempt, whenever possible, to avoid working on the most congested side of the street during peak commuting hours.
