Motorcyclist Hurt in Crash During Chase
A motorcyclist was hospitalized with multiple injuries Saturday night after he crashed while being pursued by a California Highway Patrol officer, authorities said.
The motorcyclist was traveling east on the Ventura Freeway about 7 p.m. when the CHP officer attempted to pull him over for speeding, CHP spokesman Bruce Ferrier said.
The motorcyclist sped off instead of yielding to the officer, exited the freeway at Van Nuys Boulevard, then crashed soon after he turned east on Riverside Drive, the spokesman said.
Eric Bryant, 32, of Venice was charged with driving under the influence of narcotics. He was transported by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition late Saturday with a broken leg, as well as head and chest injuries, the officer said.
