At the Clovis Cross-Country Invitational:
Tustin finishes second--Tustin’s Mike Gavar ran 16:30 over 3.1 miles at Woodward Park to place 11th at the Clovis Invitational. Tustin finished second with 103 points, behind Nevada Union (85 points).
Mike Case of Brea Olinda finished 12th in 16:30. Brea Olinda was sixth with 169 points. Tustin’s Daniel Smith finished 13th, also in 16:30.
At the Vulcan Invitational:
Irvine finishes 11th--Irvine’s Jessica Corbin ran 18:44 over three miles at Magic City Running Park to finish 12th at the Vulcan Championship of America in Birmingham, Ala. Irvine (325 points) finished 11th in a 26-team field.
Courtney Adams of Indianapolis Brebeuf finished first with a time of 17:10. Clifton Park (N.Y.) Shenandoah won the team title with 92 points.
In nonleague boys’ water polo:
Long Beach Wilson 13, Corona del Mar 8--The Sea Kings failed in their first attempt at avenging last season’s 10-9 loss to Wilson in the State Division I title game.
Costa Mesa 20, Simi Valley Royal 9--Sean Hylton had five goals and Ryan Dandy added four for Costa Mesa (11-4).
In nonleague girls’ water polo:
Santa Margarita 7, Long Beach Poly 2--Julie Egus scored three goals and Katie Ferguson had two for Santa Margarita (5-2).
