PORT HUENEME : Carport Fire Burns Family’s Furniture
A fire in a Port Hueneme carport Tuesday night caused $37,000 in damage and destroyed a family’s furniture.
The belongings had been stored in the carport temporarily while the family’s apartment was being re-carpeted, county fire officials said.
Officials said they do not yet know the cause of the fire, which erupted shortly after 10 p.m., destroyed the carport and damaged a neighboring duplex at 137 Ann Ave.
The fire was contained in 20 minutes. There were no injuries, officials said.
