Woodland Hills : Woman’s Cuts at Hotel Called Self-Inflicted

Lacerations suffered by a Los Angeles-area woman staying at the Warner Center Hilton Towers hotel in Woodland Hills this week apparently were self-inflicted, authorities said Wednesday.

Officials said the woman, whose name was not released by police, was despondent when she checked into the hotel alone at about 11 a.m. Monday. She refused all hotel services before being found injured in her room’s doorway by a visitor to the hotel shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, officials said.

The woman, who was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center in critical condition, remained in the hospital’s intensive care unit Wednesday, police said.

Steele Edwards, the hotel’s general manager, said an extensive security check did not reveal any forced entry into the woman’s room. A review of the room’s electronic door lock showed there was no entry or exit of any kind after the woman entered the room Monday, he said.

The 330-room, 15-story hotel has 24-hour security including mobile officers, monitored cameras and videotape, Edwards said.
