Boy Wounded in Drive-by Shooting
A 4-year-old South-Central Los Angeles boy was in critical condition Thursday night after he was shot in the head by a gunman aiming at his teen-age brother, police said.
Andres Beltran underwent surgery at California Hospital Medical Center, police said.
Beltran was standing in his driveway, about 20 feet behind his brother, when a car slowed in front of their home in the 900 block of East 43rd Place and a passenger shot about five rounds at the boy’s brother. The brother, a 16-year-old gang member, was shot in the leg, according to police.
Police have identified the gang involved in the shooting, and a detective working the case said “an arrest is imminent.”
