A 31-year-old man was in critical condition after a teen riding by on a bicycle shot the victim once in the head, police said.

Marco Angelo Gonzalez was standing on the sidewalk in the 4900 block of West 16th Street, talking with six other people just before 9 p.m. Thursday when a bicyclist approached them and pulled out a semiautomatic handgun, Sgt. Bob Clark said.

The assailant fired a round, which sent the group running in panic. When police arrived at the scene, they found Gonzalez sprawled on the ground, bleeding profusely from the bullet wound to his head.
