Update / Follow-up on the news : GARDEN GROVE : $500 Price Tag for Offspring’s Graffiti
Parents will have to reimburse the city up to $500 for the cost of cleaning up graffiti done by their children, according to a city ordinance adopted this week.
The city will place a lien on the parents’ house if the fine is not paid.
“It’s just another tool in our arsenal,” said Councilman Mark Leyes, to be used “when parents are not enforcing discipline on kids.”
Councilman Bob Dinsen voted against the ordinance because it does not include a provision to recover fines from renters.
