From Staff and Wire Reports

The Lakers make their only two home appearances of the exhibition season tonight and Saturday as part of the GTE Everything Pages Shootout, playing the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight at 8. The Dallas Mavericks and Portland Trail Blazers play at 5.

George Lynch, who sat out all of training camp while recovering from foot surgery, has returned to light workouts with the Lakers and may join full practices in a week to 10 days. That means he could be on the active roster opening night Nov. 3, a boost for a defense that is already trying to replace two key components from last season, Sam Bowie and Tony Smith.

Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett is averaging 26 minutes and has started one of three exhibition games while trying to make a successful jump from high school to the NBA.
