Tarzana : Mental Health Agency to Honor Valley Man

Share

A Van Nuys-based mental health agency will honor a San Fernando Valley resident at a fund-raising banquet Sunday in Tarzana for his 15 years of work with the nonprofit group.

Receiving the first Macdonald Carey Award will be Sidney V. Saginor, 86, a semi-retired financial adviser from Encino and a member of the San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center’s board of directors for 15 years.

“We thought that it would be kind of nice to honor him,” center staff member Dorie A. Paley said.

Named for the late actor best known for his longtime role on the television soap opera “Days of Our Lives,” the honor recognizes an individual “who has contributed a great deal” to mental health programs in the Valley. Like Saginor, Carey was a board member for 15 years before his death in 1994, Paley said.

The awards ceremony will feature a buffet dinner and a variety of entertainment, including singers and a comedian-psychic.

The event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Sunday at the Braemar Country Club, 4001 Reseda Blvd. Tickets are $39 and will be available at the door. For more information, call (818) 901-4830.
