* Hooray for Larry Agran and his pre-primary CityVote plan! (“ ‘Urban Primary’ Aims to Refocus Presidential Race,” Oct. 2.)
It’s about time someone came up with a way to get the primary elections out of the hands of the party machines and back to the people who live daily with the problems: crime, homelessness, joblessness, disappearing public health care, decaying schools and shrinking municipal budgets to handle these things.
Would-be presidential candidates need to turn their eyes on these problems where they most occur--in the cities, not the cornfields. We’ll be watching to see which ones have the courage to take up this challenge!
