THOUSAND OAKS : Civic Arts Plaza Plans AIDS Benefit
The Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza next month will host an AIDS benefit rock concert, only the second such benefit since the $64-million performing arts center opened last year.
But the Board of Governors will be asked at a meeting Wednesday to approve special seating and ticketing arrangements.
Three local bands will rock the Forum Theatre on Nov. 22, with proceeds benefitting young children with AIDS, theater Director Tom Mitze said.
Although the deal already has been made, promoters have asked arts plaza officials to relax typical seating arrangements and open up the 400-seat Forum Theatre to dancing, Mitze said.
About 100 extra tickets would be available if the board allows patrons to stand, rather than erecting temporary seats.
“The issue is not just whether to have a flat floor, but whether we would allow them to sell additional tickets,” Mitze said.
A spring concert featuring the 1960s folk group Peter, Paul & Mary was held at the Civic Arts Plaza to benefit area abused children.
Officials from the production company, It’s Time Productions, were not available to comment.
