Irvine Fight Card Features Vasquez

Huntington Beach bantamweight Johnny Vasquez, coming off a stunning knockout victory, will fight journeyman Jesus Jimenez in tonight’s main event at the Irvine Marriott.

Vasquez (6-4, five knockouts), in his second main event and second eight-round bout, needed less than a round to stop Jose Luis Orejel in September.

Jimenez (9-14-2), like Orejel, has had more fights than Vasquez, but he doesn’t appear to have much power. He has only three knockouts in 23 fights.

Heavyweight Jerry Moran, who fought on the undercard of Hector Camacho’s fight last month, is featured in the semi-main event.

Moran (2-0, two knockouts), who knocked out San Diego’s Mike Brainard at the Marriott in August, will fight Gil Jacobs (1-2). Featured on the four-bout undercard is junior welterweight Mark Lewis (9-1 with seven knockouts) of Palm Springs. Lewis will fight Daniel Hernandez (11-14 with six knockouts).

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show are on sale at the Marriott for $25, $30 and $35.
