What’s Maulhardt’s Real Stance on Panel?
* According to the press, Councilman Dean Maulhardt feels the voters should decide whether the Planning Commission should be restored in Oxnard.
He stated this when the petition containing 6,200 signatures was submitted to the city clerk to require an election on restoring the commission. Maulhardt, his council cronies and the city manager forced the unwanted land-use advisers and hearing officer on us. Three weeks ago, when ex-Mayor Jane Tolmach asked the council to either restore the commission or to schedule an election in accordance with the overwhelming wishes of voters and before the signatures were turned in, Maulhardt was strangely silent.
Will he still support an election if an insufficient number of valid signatures are certified?
