CAMARILLO : Hammond to Leave Planning Commission

Share

Camarillo Planning Commissioner Harriet Hammond has submitted her resignation about a year shy of completing her four-year term.

Hammond, a retired software product manager, said in her resignation letter that she will step down effective Dec. 6 because she intends to travel extensively next year and cannot devote the necessary time to the position. Hammond was out of town and unavailable for comment.

The City Council appointed the Leisure Village resident to the commission in January, 1993.

The council will solicit applications for Hammond’s replacement on the five-member panel after formally accepting her resignation at Wednesday’s City Council meeting, according to City Clerk Marilyn Thiel.

Vice Mayor David Smith, who originally nominated Hammond, will nominate her successor.

In Camarillo, each council member nominates one commissioner, whose appointment is subject to a majority vote of the council. Commissioners receive $100 per meeting, or a maximum $200 per month, and a $25 monthly mileage stipend.
